The 6th Grade singers chose to present a program of Throwback songs.
throw·back /ˈTHrōˌbak/ noun: a person or thing having the characteristics of a former time
On our concert website you'll hear the favorite oldie "Stand by Me", a library of throwback songs from our friends and families, and some harmony experiments using cartoon songs from our youth!
In order to create this virtual choir, the singers learned and practiced their music at home. Once learned, they recorded their solo voices while singing along with a guide track. They uploaded their audio recordings which were then aligned and balanced.
We've added photos of people, places, pets, objects, and hobbies that we've relied on for happiness and support during quarantine.

Early in the year, Mr. Ito invited the 6th Grade Chorus to participate in our annual Memorial Day assembly. The students prepared most of this arrangement in class.
The Singers
In WMS Chorus, we've named our voice parts "Wellesley" and "Raider" because the singers perform both as Sopranos (high voices) and Altos (low voices) depending on the repertoire we're singing. This helps our singers to build the ability to sing harmony, but also maintaining access to their higher range. In "Stand by Me" the Raiders sang Soprano and the Wellesleys were the altos. For the "Star-Spangled Banner" the Wellesleys sang the soprano part and the Raiders were the altos."Wellesleys"
"Raiders"
