Junior District Festival

The Eastern District Junior Music Festival includes students in grades 7-9 enrolled in their school music program orchestra, concert band, jazz band, or chorus.  Students interested in participating need to take part in a rigorous audition by a group of professional musicians in the field.  Students that have a successful audition will then receive the sheet music in the mail, which they should prepare ahead of the festival.  The festival includes two days of rehearsals with an accomplished conductor and a concert.  Choirs available in this festival are the Junior District Mixed Chorus (SATB) and the Junior District Treble Chorus (SSA).  This is a wonderful experience for serious young musicians and I will encourage all WMS singers to audition.

All students interested in auditioning will need to be registered through Ms. Connors, Mr. Adams, or Dr. Khanukaev.  Contact your ensemble director for details!

Auditions: Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Bedford HS.  Bus transportation from WMS will be provided.  There is an audition + transportation fee, reach out to Connors for details. If you have a successful audition, the festival music will be mailed to you and you will have until 3/10 to learn the notes and rhythms for four festival pieces.

Festival: March 8+9, at Lincoln-Sudbury HS. Bus transportation from WMS will be provided.  There is a registration + transportation fee, reach out to Connors for details.  The concerts are on Saturday 3/9.  The treble chorus concert is at 3 pm and the mixed chorus concert is at 4 pm.  Tickets will be available for pre-order and at the door.
