Goals of Unit 5 Include:

• Understand the concept of chemical rate as a measurement of change in concentration of a reactant or product over time.

• Write rate laws, determine reaction order, and solve for the rate constant, k, with appropriate units, based on supplied experimental data, including graphs.

• Understand how reaction intermediates, catalysts, and rate-determining steps can be deduced from proposed reaction mechanisms.
