Chapters 8-9 Bonding
The goals of this unit include:
Understanding how lattice energy and relative sizes of isoelectronic species relate to ionic bonding.
Drawing Lewis diagrams for molecular compounds, identifying if the compound contains polar or nonpolar bonds, determining the electron domain geometry, determining the molecular geometry, determining if the molecule is polar or nonpolar, drawing any possible resonance structures, determining which resonance structure is most stable based on formal charge, and determining orbital hybridization in the molecule. Phew!
