Chapter 5 Gases

The necessary links for the simulations and videos are shown below. The prelab video link is at the bottom of the page.

2021-present Gases Unit

This is an abbreviated unit. We will only spend a few days on this in class (the reasoning being that gas behavior was covered well in Regents - even in pandemic years - and is fairly intuitive).

You will be watching Dr. Sarah English's videos and taking notes.

Video 1 - Units of Pressure

Video 2 - Boyle's Law Review

Video 3 - Charles' Law Review

Video 4 - Avogadro's Law

Video 5 - Gay-Lussac's Law

Video 6 - Ideal Gas Law

Video 7 - Combined Gas Law

Video 8 - Gas Density

Video 9 - Molar Mass of a Gas and Volume in Chemical Reactions

Video 10 - Gas Mixtures, Partial Pressures, and Mole Fraction

Video 11 - Collecting Gas Over Water; Kinetic Molecular Theory

In class we will do two POGILs and have a day to work on Gases OWLs.

There will NOT be a quiz or test on Gases.

Video Lecture

The Gases Unit is a self-guided unit. You will have five in-class days to work through the content. You may ask questions at any point. The completed Gases packet is due the day of the Gases Test.
