About the ASCA National Model
The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling (2019) is a framework created by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) to help support the work of school counselors in a comprehensive school counseling program. It serves as a resource and guide for school counselors to address the academic, career, and social/emotional needs of their students through a data-driven and comprehensive approach. The ASCA National Model provides school counselors with an effective approach to developing, planning, and assessing their programs. It also encourages school counselors to collaborate with educators, administrators, parents, and various community stakeholders. This collaboration helps foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes success in academics, behavior, and personal well-being. There are four main components of the ASCA model; Define, Manage, Deliver, and Assess.
