At the end of the 2018-2019 school year, we had grown 2.6% in this focus area, moving from a 6.4 to a 9.0 rating.

Objective 1

Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, every grade level will collaborate with the media specialist at least once. The Library Media Specialist will use strategies learned from Convergence, NCSLMA, and other professional development to enhance the current curriculum.

Impact of our work on this objective:

* Students were able to experience the media center as an expansion of their classroom.

For example, 4th graders learned about fractions in their classroom and then came to the media center to make their trail mix using what they learned in class.

* Students were engaged in new technology.

For example, 5th graders learned how to use Ozobots to map the journey of Lewis and Clark during the Westward Expansion Unit. 2nd graders were able to visit different markets around the world using Google Expeditions and virtual reality.

* Students benefited from the knowledge of both their teacher and the Library Media Specialist.

For example, 1st graders learned about different countries from their teacher and then specifically about their partner school in Pakistan from the School Media Specialist.

* Student activities included the use of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.

For example, 2nd graders had to work together to save their animal from a well using designated materials.

Objective 2

Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, our Library Media Specialist will collaborate with 3rd through 5th grade on at least one EL curriculum module.

Evidence & Reflection

EL Modules:

*3rd Grade Module 2 - Adaptations & the Wide World of Frogs

We use Lego WeDo and created lego frogs

*3rd Grade Module 4 - Water Around the World

We ended the unit with some fun water-related activities

*4th Grade Module 3 - The American Revolution

We videoed their broadsides with the green screen and presented them to our parents at a Tea Party event.

*4th Grade Module 4 - Responding to Inequality

We videoed their public service announcements and held a press conference.

Impact of our work on this objective:

For example, 4th graders created their PSAs and broadsides in the class and then videoed and presented them in the Media Center

* Students were engaged in new technology.

For example, 3rd graders used Lego WeDo to create robotic frogs that they coded actions for. They also learned about Ozobot and traveled a river with Google Expeditions and virtual reality at the end of the water unit.

* Students benefited from the knowledge of both their teacher and the Library Media Specialist.

For example, 4th graders worked with their teachers to create succinct broadsides and then worked with the Library Media Specialist to create a green screen video.

* Student activities included the use of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.

For example, 2nd graders had to work together to build a bridge over their river in the water activities.
