Below are a list of some general enrichment opportunities available in and around Wake County. For grade-specific opportunities, please make sure to also check out your grade level page, located under "Info by Grade Level".

Enrichment programs present students with opportunities to explore interests, enhance academics and talents, make connections with peers and mentors, build leadership skills, and discover potential career paths. Below are links to local programs. (**Please note that we do not endorse any of these programs. We provide this information as a starting place for you to explore options. For additional information, please contact the program coordinator directly.**)


Artspace - Artspace offers week-long unique classes for students ages 5-16 along with weekend workshops and evening classes for kids (ages 5-16) and adults (ages 16+).


CAM Raleigh - The Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh offers an active education program connecting middle school students to contemporary art and design. Programs for middle school students include: weekend workshops, a student docent program and summer art and design studios.


Carolina ADMIRES - (Assisting in Development and Mentoring an Innovative Research Experience in Science) is a program designed for 8th and 9th grade students who have an interest in science and would like to learn more about what a future career in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines would bring. Meetings are approximately once a month on Saturday mornings throughout the academic year


City of Raleigh Teen Program - Offers opportunities for teens between the ages 12 and 18 in the City of Raleigh and Wake County. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities for teens to create, plan, and implement programs, and to design and develop projects and special events that will be of benefit to their peers, the community, and to themselves as individuals. Through recreational, educational, social, empowerment based, and career exploration activities, teens can discover ways to make important personal developments.


Civil Air Patrol - CAP is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves as the civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force.   As a CAP cadet, students participate in a year-round program where they can fly, learn to lead, hike, camp, and get in shape. The program transforms youth into dynamic citizens and aerospace leaders through a curriculum that focuses on four elements: leadership, aerospace, fitness and character.  If you’re between 12 and 18 years of age and dreaming about a career in aviation, space or the military, CAP’s Cadet Program is for you. Duke Splash - A one-day-long event in which middle and high school students (7th through 12th graders) have the opportunity to take classes taught by Duke students, with topics ranging from dancing to engineering to art history to organic chemistry! We aim to foster a love of learning, independence, and creativity in all people. 


Duke Youth Programs - Provides summer enrichment opportunities for academically motivated middle school and high school students in the areas of bioengineering, biological science, math, creative writing, academic writing, leadership, computer programming, and college selection/admissions.


Husky Sports Camps - Heritage High School offers Summer Sports Camps for soccer, basketball, volleyball, and Lacrosse for kids and teams in the Wake Forest/North Raleigh area. Kids must be between the ages of 8 and 15 (rising 3rd through 9th graders). 


Meredith College - offers a wide range of summer programs for girls with academic, music and athletic camps


NC State College of Design (Design Camp) - A multi-discipline pre-college design program organized by the NC State Design Lab for high school and middle school students. Held each summer, Design Camp informs students about the study of design and raises awareness of the impact of design on all aspects of our everyday lives. The design thinking skills and creative experience gained can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.


NC State College of Engineering Summer Camps - From day camps to week-long stays, these programs introduce students to engineering through hands-on activities and problem-solving. Students spend the week with other like-minded students and gain exposure to NC State and university life.


NC State Engineering Bits & Bytes Days - Engineering Bits & Bytes Days are K-12 on-campus STEM curriculum enrichment events. They are half-day events held once a semester and include age-appropriate hands-on engineering activities and often a tour of Hunt Library as well. Engineering Bits & Bytes Days are generally differentiated by grade bands (grades 3-5, grades 6-8, grades 9-12).


Raleigh Parks and Recreation - Advertises youth and adult classes through the seasonal publication called the Leisure Ledger.


Summershine - WCPSS Community Services department operates the Community Schools program, which strives to meet the needs of each community at the neighborhood level by facilitating educational, recreational, cultural, civic and social programs designed for all age groups. The Summershine directory is a biannual publication that offers information to parents about camps, services, daycare, clinics, and track out programs for children in the Triangle area. 


UNCG CHANCE Program - for Latinx students currently in 11th grade. Participants engage with university professors, students, and staff to develop a peer/professional network forging positive, healthy mentorship connections focused on academic success and personal growth. This program encourages Latinx students to attend college by increasing their awareness of higher education and showing that it is well within their reach. 


Wake Tech Community College Summer Camps - 19 camps that are designed to excite and inspire young minds as they explore their interests and consider career options for the future. Camps are geared to specific grade (or age levels) or gender (ex: Girls Raised in the Sciences) and have a limited number of spaces available.
