For the 2020-21 School Year, MTAC voted to focus on one area - strengthening Family & Community Partnerships.
Beginning in September 2020, students placed holds on books using the Destiny Discover catalog and picked them up at the school once a week.
Beginning in November, VA students continued to use this system to pick up/return books weekly. In person students requested books online as well. These were delivered to their classrooms in labeled paper bags two days a week.
This information was communicated through the school library website and weekly reminder emails in both English and Spanish.

With the shift to online learning in Spring 2020, funds were spent on acquiring ebooks for the 2020-21 school year.
66 new single-user and multi-user ebooks were added for a total of 139 titles.
Over 20 Destiny Collections were added for students to browse print and digital resources around EL topics in grades 2-5, popular subjects and celebrations.
As designated Tech Contacts at the school, Emma Fox and Paige Laug maintained communication with families throughout the school year in both English and Spanish.
Parents and families often used Salem ES as the liaison between WCPSS Tech Services for new devices, replacement devices and tech support issues and questions. When possible, these issues were handled at the school level. MTAC provided assistance with communication between families and Tech Contacts and Tech Services.
MTAC partnered with Salem Elementary School's SIT (School Improvement Team) as one of this year's SIP goals was strengthening Family and Community Engagement.
Staff was provided with this slideshow, featuring screencasts to assist teachers with student organization of Google Folders. This aligns with the Digital Portfolio initiative and allows for students to have ownership over their learning and locating their artifacts based on grade level and subject areas.
