The Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program helps teens between the ages of 15 and 18 develop their skills and prepare for future employment by spending the summer working for the City of Raleigh. Over six weeks, 200 summer youth employees will gain valuable work experience, discover possible career pathways, and learn topics such as financial literacy, civic engagement, workforce soft skills, and leadership. Employees also have the opportunity to receive mentorship from firefighters, law enforcement staff, local business owners, and professionals from organizations such as Bank of America and UNC Health.
Employees will:
Be able to work in a virtual or in-person environment
Receive training and career counseling
Work 20-30 hours per week
Attend life skills lessons
Receive a stipend or work hourly
Network and build relationships with coworkers and mentors

The Wilson College of Textiles Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP) application is officially open, and we would like to invite you to encourage your students to apply. STEP consists of five one-week sessions for rising high school seniors interested in learning about the textile industry. Participants live on-campus, learn about our degree programs, the admissions process, scholarship opportunities and work on a project related to one of our majors. The program cost is $450 for each participant and covers lodging, transportation, lunches and dinners during the camp, and any materials needed for final projects. Financial aid and fee waivers are available.

Global Virtual Program:
The Biogen Community Lab and Lemelson-MIT group are hosting a 2-week long Biotech in Action free virtual summer lab program for high school students. Applications are currently open and close on March 21st. Visit our website for program details and application.
After successfully launching the Biogen-MIT Biotech in Action: Virtual Summer Lab in 2020, and working to make it even better in 2021 and 2022, we are continuing the program for 2023!
We have created a state-of-the-art, virtual program to continue to inspire and empower a new generation of young scientists globally. This year’s virtual program will use virtual labs, online learning and conferencing software, and real-time conversations with Biogen and MIT employees to teach you all about biotechnology and invention with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis and Digital Medicine.

The Durham Bulls Explorer Post 50 is a co-ed unpaid internship program that offers students, ages 14-20, a unique and invaluable opportunity to gain exceptional experience in the field of television broadcasting. Durham Bulls Explorer Post 50 is supported and sponsored by the Durham Bulls, Fox 50 and Capitol Broadcasting Company. Now in our 25th season of broadcasting, Post 50 provides the live broadcast of the Durham Bulls games on MeTV, WRAL Sports Plus, MiLB.com as well as within the ballpark. We also provide highlights for FOX 50 and WRAL newscasts.
The Durham Bulls and Explorer Post 50 will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 8th from 6:30-8:00pm at the Durham Bulls Athletic Ball Park located at 409 Blackwell Street, Durham, NC 27701.

The Summer Training in Academic Research (STAR) Program provides a high-quality research experience for undergraduate students, high school students, and middle and high school teachers during the summer academic break.
The eight-week program will give participants who are interested in science and medicine real hands-on experience in research methodology and writing. Participants are placed in teams and matched with Duke faculty mentors to work on an original, hypothesis-driven project, originating as a one-page summary and culminating in a complete research paper. A goal of the program is to have every participant qualify for co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscript related to their team’s project.
The STAR Program is held at the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, N.C., which has organized educational and support programs for junior faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students as well as high school and college students. Participants receive a stipend to attend, which makes the program an option even for students who planned to work over the summer break (https://dcri.org/dukes-star-program/#compensation).
The Duke STAR Program 2023 application period is November 21, 2022 to January 6, 2023. There will be no extension.
The program will take place June 20 to August 10, 2023.

Build Up High School Internship

Job Description
DPR Construction is seeking interns for our Build Up High School Internship in Construction Management. Tool belts not required! Interns will work in the job trailer, side-by-side with a project team building a major commercial construction project. Interns will learn about managing a multi-million-dollar project, the innovative technology used for planning, scheduling and design, and the wide range of professional roles needed to build great buildings.
Working with a team of mentors, interns will spend 35-40 hours a week on an active construction jobsite, assisting with important project functions including subcontractor coordination, document control, quality inspections, schedule updates, safety training, and site plan updates.
Build Up interns will be paid on an hourly basis.
Exact role will vary based on assigned project. The interns will work closely with members of the project team and will be responsible for participating in the following tasks:
Be responsible for a range of entry-level construction management assignments, working both alongside mentors and independently.
Gain experience setting career and education-related goals, exploring them through mentoring and jobsite assignments, and reflecting on findings through an 8-week Capstone project.
Develop presentation skills that will prepare them for future educational and career pursuits, as well as increase confidence in their abilities and leadership capacity.
Gain experience communicating, asking questions, receiving feedback, and navigating as a team member in an adult, professional environment.
To achieve this goal, DPR will:
Cultivate a fuller understanding of the scope of challenging career opportunities in the construction field.
Expose interns to both the high level of innovation and established methods in our industry.
Encourage a sense of appreciation for the complex, dynamic building process through meaningful jobsite experiences.
Provide solid technical and professional training that will help advance them through their education and career decisions.

The Game2Learn Lab in the Computer Science Department at NC State University is offering an unpaid virtual high school internship program this summer starting on June 21 and extending through July 30. Interns will be piloting and co-designing educational tools and software for K-12 classrooms. The internship will start with a computing boot camp for participants to hone their skills in advanced block-based programming environments. Interns will then be assigned to teams where they will work collaboratively to build infusing computing programs and curricular materials for 100+ middle and high school teachers across North and South Carolina. Interns will also provide technical and programming support for teachers learning block-based programming. Additionally, high school interns will be able to attend weekly seminars on computing topics and research practices designed for our Socially Relevant Computing and Analytics Research Experience for Undergraduates (SRCA-REU).

The NCSU Dairy is offering for high school Ag students this summer- a dairy showmanship camp affectionately known as "Cow Camp!"
Cow Camp is a 10 day camp designed to help students gain hands-on experience and knowledge in dairy husbandry, handling and showmanship! The camp will culminate with a livestock show in Greensboro. Students will be paired up and assigned a heifer for the two weeks on the dairy. Activities will also include NCSU Campus tour, Feed Mill Tour and a trip to the Simply Natural Creamery in Ayden, NC! (Skylight Inn is definitely on the menu!)

The Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) has a new format for 2021. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) invites rising high school juniors and seniors to participate in a two-week, virtual research internship program, June 7-18. The program will operate virtually from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Upon graduation from high school and enrollment at N.C. A&T in a CAES program, participants will receive an $800 scholarship. The RDC Summer Leadership Program is a paid internship that provides a place for young leaders to discover and strengthen their unique talents while building a solid foundation of Godly character and servant leadership. We are looking for students ages 16-24 who want to reach local communities with the gospel while also growing in their leadership skills.
Leadership development will include local outreach, experience in program planning and implementation, study of leadership characteristics, and professional development and mentoring from RDC staff.

What is a VISTA Summer Associate?
The AmeriCorps VISTA program prioritizes low-income areas with the goal of creating sustainable and healthy communities. This program allows for Summer Associates (VISTAs) to complete a short term (10 week), full-time direct service opportunity. The Summer VISTAs are paid volunteers who provide programming to various summer food and 4-H Camp sites in Wake County to prevent summer learning loss for students, particularly in STEAM and nutrition education. Two VISTA Summer Associates will also be assigned to do youth education with our Expanded Foods and Nutrition Program!
This year, we have planned to have our VISTAs trained in specific activity areas, this way, they will be able to provide programming to various sites in Wake County. Our Summer VISTAs can also complete the Safe Food Handling training to assist with meal times. We are looking to deploy VISTAs in pairs to regions and organizations with interest and program that aligns with the VISTA goals.

Cisco High School STEM Externship Program is a comprehensive, unpaid virtual summer program. Students will be immersed in Cisco's history, culture, and technology at 1 of our Cisco virtual sites, across the US & Canada.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current high school juniors and seniors
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Have access to computer and the internet
- Ability to participate in the program M-F, approximately 4 - 6hrs per day

Interested in Architecture, Construction or Engineering?
ACE Mentor Program is a free national program that is open to any high school student who has the curiosity and drive to learn about a career in design and construction — from contracting and engineering to architecture and landscaping.
What: Students will work with local design and construction professionals to design a project from start to finish. Students will visit professional offices, job sites and other relevant locations. Students will discuss the same issues, and perform the same tasks, as if they worked in the industry.
Also eligible for NCSU College of Engineering and Design Summer Camp Scholarships!
Where: ACE Students will meet at 4 locations in Wake County. Students may choose the site most convenient for them.
