Homework Policy
The purpose of homework is to support learning, foster independence, and enrich the total school experience. It provides a risk-free opportunity to experiment and practice newly-learned skills. Homework should require students to apply what they have learned so they reinforce what they understand, and can return to class to ask questions about areas of confusion.
Students do not receive a “grade” for homework. All homework will be marked with a “P” for practice. Please help your child develop the routine of good study practices when doing homework by providing a quiet, well-lit place to sit and work uninterrupted with easy access to supplies such as pencil, paper, computer, calculator, etc.
Below are guidelines for the maximum amount of time each child should spend on homework. If your child puts forth good effort and reaches the maximum time for homework, you should write a note to the teacher indicating you ended the homework session at that time - even if the work has not been completed. If you have questions or concerns about any assignments, please contact your child’s teacher.
