Cell Phones/SMART Watches, Digital Communication Devices

CELL PHONES
Students are allowed to bring cellphones to school; however, phones should be turned off and stored in the student’s bookbag. Students are NOT allowed to use cell phones or keep cell phones on their body during the school day. If a staff member encounters a student using a cell phone without permission, the phone will be taken to the office and parents/guardians will be notified. Cell phones will only be returned to a parent/guardian. Students should not use cell phones on school transportation.
SMART WATCHES
Smartwatches may be worn and used as watches throughout the school day, but any features that require wireless connections to a smartphone must be disabled. Smart watches may not be used to text or send communication during the school day.
Students needing to contact a family member should ask the teacher to contact them via Talking Points or use the classroom telephone. Parents/guardians will be contacted by the teacher or an administrator if the student is using a SMARTwatch or cell phone without permission.
If a student continues using a cell phone or SMARTwatch, the item will be taken by the teacher/administrator and the parent will be contacted to pick up the device at the end of the school day.
