Communication
Good communication between families and teachers is vital to the success of your student(s). The teacher is the first point of contact for information, questions, and concerns. Family and teacher conferences are scheduled at least twice a year, and additionally on an as-needed basis. Mark your calendar for the fall and spring conference dates:
November 4, 2025 - Fall Family Conference
March 20, 2026 - Spring Family Conference
Teachers also provide updates on classroom activities through Talking Points. You may contact Poe staff via Talking Points, email, calling the main office to leave a message, or sending a note with your child. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s educational experience at Poe, please contact the teacher. If you meet with the teacher and have additional questions or concerns, please contact an administrator. When contacting an administrator, please do so by email and/or phone - 919-250-4777. Administrators do NOT communicate through Talking Points.

All students will bring home a Tuesday Folder each week with important communication from the school. If your child does not bring home a weekly folder, please contact the teacher. The Tuesday Folder and Talking Points are our main tools for effective communication between home and school.
If a significant change occurs in your home, please contact the teacher as soon as possible, as these may affect your child's school performance. Common causes of distress include: parents being away from the home for an extended time, a new person in the home, illness or death within the family, moving, the death of a pet, etc. All information is kept confidential. A member of our Student Support Services team will check in with any student upon request.
