Students participated in a PHMS Reading Challenge through library circulation visits. Students set reading goals, were challenged to read outside of their usual leanings, set New Years reading goals, and explore Community Reads titles.
A PHMS Reading Challenge logo contest allowed artistic students to create a reading-themed drawing to be included on library bookmarks.
Students continued to recommend books for purchase via the recommendation box in the library & through the link on library website.
Ms. Ziller focused on ordering books from publishers who focus on diversity and 'own voice' experiences.
Two reading-related clubs were offered on Club Days - the DEAR Club and Battle of the Books.
The PHMS Book Madness Tournament took place in March and April and gained much excitement for 32 of the top title check-outs this school year.
Ms. Ziller shared curriculum-specific titles to circulation classes and read aloud from picture books during circulation time.
A culture of reading was cultivated among PHMS staff book through book sharing at monthly staff meetings.
