HSES Kindergarten

Recess takes place most days from 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm unless it is raining, it is too wet and muddy, or we are experiencing extreme temperatures that would prohibit us from going outside safely. We are also not required to go outside on days that we have the PE special, although most of the time we do. The children need to get their energy out!! On days when we cannot go outside, the children have free choice centers inside or participate in an indoor fitness activity (directed dancing like Go Noodle or a game). In most classrooms free choice centers include:

housekeeping (dramatic play area)
library center for reading
building toys (wooden blocks, Legos, Lincoln Logs, magnetic blocks, etc.)
puzzles and board games
ipads
arts and crafts (drawing, coloring, play-doh, painting)

Safety is one of our top priorities! Please help us, by making sure that your child is dressed appropriately to play outside. The concrete surfaces on our playground have been treated with anit-skid paint, but falls and accidents still happen. Consider sending your child in closed toe shoes that do not allow mulch and other debris to enter and hurt their little feet. During the winter months, we WILL go outside. Always send your child with a warm coat and make sure that you write your child's name on it.
