Standard 1: School library media coordinators demonstrate leadership.
a. SLMCs lead in the school library media center and media program to support student success.
Enforce LIONS Expectations for all students and classes that visit the Media Center.
Supervise parent and community volunteers to assist in the Media Center with shelving, processing new materials, inventory and other tasks as needed.

Standard 3: School library media coordinators implement a comprehensive 21st Century library media program.
a. SLMCs develop a library collection that supports 21st Century teaching and learning.
Assisted Ms. Colon with pulling books that we have in our collection for her students' to do a book tasting during ELA.
Create displays of books, both fiction and non-fiction to grow student interests and understanding of using different types of resources for various informational needs. Example: Women's History Month
Utilized some of our Scholastic Dollars to purchase new graphic novels for circulation based on student demand.
Maintain collection, which is aligned with and supports the NC Standard Course of Study, and contains books (print and electronic) to support student's recreational and informational needs. This included weeding (removal) ~800 books from the Fiction section that were outdated, not circulating and/or were in severely poor condition.
Began working on Collection Management Plan for LRMS.
b. SLMCs serve, promote and facilitate inquiry-based instruction and the effective use of information and technology.
As Tech Contact serve as initial contact for tech issues
Follow-up and troubleshoot HelpDesk tickets for staff and students assigned to LRMS through the HelpDesk portal when able, and reassign to Tech Services as appropriate.
Has a flex/fixed schedule to allow for access to the space and resources in the Media Center
Standard 4: School library media coordinators demonstrate knowledge of learners and learning and promote effective instructional practices.
a. SLMCs use effective pedagogy to infuse content-area curricula with 21st Century skills.
Invited & scheduled 6th grade science classes to the Media Center for hands-on exploration & discussion to tie-in with rocks and minerals unit.
Collaborate with 6th Grade Science teacher on plant life unit. Plan, Screencastify, Digital Collection
Show students how to access their audiobooks so that students can listen to a book as they read it to assist with their comprehension.
Serve as Mentor for new SLMCs, meeting in-person 4 times as a whole & providing one-on-one mentorship via email and phone.

As Tech Contact troubleshoot technology issues & submit helpdesk tickets for those I am unable to resolve on my own, follow-up on HelpDesk tickets assigned to LRMS & either troubleshoot & resolve or reassign to Tech Services when appropriate, and provide tech support for students and families.
Reads WakeMedia Monthly and stays on-top of emails and information disseminated from Digital Learning & Libraries, Tech Services and Library Media Services.
