Standard 1: School library media coordinators demonstrate leadership.
a. SLMCs lead in the school library media center and media program to support student success.
Set routines and behavior expectations with every ELA class during the first month of school and reviewed at beginning of every class.
Recruit, train and supervise parent and community volunteers, and subs to assist in the Media Center with sorting, shelving, checkin, inventory and other tasks as needed.
Use CMAPP, NCDLS and AASL standards in lesson planning to align instruction
Initiate and plan collaborations with teachers. (6th Grade ELA, 6th Grade Science, 7th Grade Science, 7th Grade Social Studies,, 8th Grade ELA, 8th Grade Science)
Chair the Media and Technology Advisory Committee (MTAC)
Participate in district PLT for Secondary Library Instruction
Facilitate district-wide cohort - for SLMC's working on NBCT certification (both initial and MOC) - and provide individual coaching and feedback on written components and video segments.
b. SLMCs lead in their schools.
Infuse multiple literacies & 21st Century skills into lessons for all grades. Examples: Using Destiny online to locate books by their call numbers; Analyzing digital tattoos; Using AI in school, Infectious Diseases Research.

Met with School Board Chairperson, Chris Heagarty, as part of a delegation of WCPSS SLMC leaders to share data and advocate for equitable funding for WCPSS school libraries.
Solicit support from community families to support spring book drive and Donors Choose Grant library book project.

Models digital citizenship & copyright compliance during lessons and assignments
Directs students to view only their personal library accounts on the circulation computers, and not other students' so as to protect their private information.
Uses the "confidential" feature to encrypt emails when communicating with staff members about sensitive student information.
Standard 2: School library media coordinators build a learning environment that meets the instructional needs of a diverse population of students.
a. SLMCs establish a learning environment that facilitates access to resources and addresses the learning needs of all members of the school community.
Hosted Book Tasting with 6th grade ELA classes to expose students to a variety of genres in hopes of fostering literacy in general but also global awareness and cultural understanding by including biographies, autobiographies and narrative non-fiction categories featuring diverse people and cultures.
Select books for purchase with an emphasis on improving diverse representations to reflect student population.

b. SLMCs provide appropriate resources, services, and instruction for learners at all stages of development.
Troubleshoot and submit HelpDesk tickets for students and staff

Standard 3: School library media coordinators implement a comprehensive 21st Century library media program.
a. SLMCs develop a library collection that supports 21st Century teaching and learning.
Readers' advisory, book talks, read alouds (complete books and exerpts), and video clips made from books, both fiction and non-fiction to grow student interests and understanding of using different types of resources for various informational needs.
Maintain collection, which is aligned with and supports the NC Standard Course of Study, and contains books (print and electronic) to support student's recreational and informational needs.
Ran collection analyses with Follett Titlewise and with Mackin to evaluate quality and relativity to our students' and school's needs, and to guide decisions regarding what to remove and what to add.
Continuously update Collection Management Plan for LRMS, shared and discussed with MTAC, including asking for feedback on areas to work on improving our collection.
Utilized Field Intern to evaluate the professional collection to determine titles for removal based on use and current relevancy
Discussed with Field Intern and LRMS teacher MLS candidate all aspects of Collection Managment Planning.
b. SLMCs serve, promote and facilitate inquiry-based instruction and the effective use of information and technology.

a. SLMCs use effective pedagogy to infuse content-area curricula with 21st Century skills.

Fall Book Fair
Spring Book Swap, solicit community members to support the book swap to get every LRMS student at least one free book.
Standard 5: School library media coordinators analyze student learning.
a. SLMCs analyze student learning.
Started action research study to collect various data sets about library and SLMC use by students and staff to find correlations to student achievement. Held conversations with admin, Instructional Facilitator, district personnel and colleagues about determining ways to aggregate, interpret and present the findings to promote improvement.
Utilize exit tickets and completed worksheets to assess student understanding
Utilize feedback from teachers on student understanding and performance to evaluate effectiveness of instruction by/with SLMC
Seek feedback from MTAC members as stakeholders and representatives of their teams
