Provide opportunities for students to share with each other what they have been reading, and shared students' reading suggestions with other classes and grades; utilized audio excerpts and digital photos of covers to pique interest.
Book talk books to students, read alouds (complete books and exerpts), and video clips made from books, both fiction and non-fiction to grow student interests and understanding of using different types of resources for various informational needs.
Provided instruction and links to students and families for sign up for a Wake County Public Library card and access their Books on the Go program as well as their eBooks and audiobooks.
Ran collection analyses through Follett TitleWave and Mackin to determine strengths and weaknesses of the library collection

For example, I read Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate and discussed issues related to job instability, lack of food and resources, homelessness and transition with 3rd through 5th graders.
