Quarter 1:
Topic: Overcoming Learning Challenges Near and Far
This quarter, students will read many fiction and nonfiction texts about learning challenges around the world.
Unit 1:
Reading for "gist" and understanding the lesson, message, and moral of various literary texts
Asking and answering questions about a literary text
Unit 2:
Reading informational text about learning challenges near and far
Using research gained from nonfiction text to write an informative paragraph
Unit 3:
Creating a "reading contract" and a reading strategies bookmark to showcase student learning!
