You have two ports for charging, left and right. Try both and make sure the light comes on to show that the device is charging. Open up and see if your battery icon shows a lightning bolt to indicate this. You can also try a friend or sibling's charger in each side to see if the problem is the charger or the port. If you have a broken or lost chargers. Your options are to leave your Chromebook to charge in the library cart overnight, during the day, or purchase a USB C, 45 Watt charger for the 2nd generation 300e Lenovo Chromebook online. Read more about options here.
Each classroom at our school has a cart of 10 Chromebooks or Laptops for use at school.
If your Chromebook is locked up, hold the power down button for 30 seconds until all lights go off. This is a full shut down and helps receive updates and clear issues. Then plug in and restart laptop.
If you are having jumping or glitchy mouse/touch screen issues, inspect for small cracks in the screen. Sometimes they are hard to see, but a small crack will cause clicking to be abnormal and could be a reason to do a replacement.
If this still doesn't fix keyboard or screen issues, you can do a Chromebook Wipe. This will reboot the operating system and usually fixes issues with the keys and screen. You will need to re-enter your home wifi, or school wifi, see Mrs. Thrash for details.
Chromebooks with other errors, hardware issues, cracked screens, or water damage can be brought to the Library where you will complete a yellow form. We will submit the ticket for Tech Services to fix or replace. Cracked screens will always be a replacement.
