Powerpoint is an animal that can be tamed or overtake your presentation. Too much happening on the projector causes people to disengage from the conversation and simply follow along with the slides. Too simple of slides and people miss the emotional and contextual point of your presentation. The point of this lesson is to educate us on how to construct a quality powerpoint presentation.
There are a couple of things you absolutely want to avoid in any presentation:
Do not write everything you are saying on your powerpoint.
Run a spell check. If things are misspelled it makes you look unprofessional.
Do not use bullet points for every word of text. Bullet point KEY points.
Use color to clarify. Color has meaning and should be used in a palette that helps people better understand the emotion of the presentation.
Limit the number of slides you use.
Use Key data. Do not use too much data as our minds struggle to process it.
Font - Make it readable.
Limit movements to transitions between slides. Use the same movement every time.
