Group B rally car began to gain the intrest of many people in the 1980s. The Group B regulations fostered some of the fastest and most powerful rally cars ever built and their era is known as the golden era of rallying. However there were many fatal accidents.
The Renault 5 Turbo had a 1.4 liter turbocharged inline 4. Which was pushing 158 horse power at around 6000rpms. It only weighed around 2000 pounds. The Renault Turbo 5 was not favored because it was rear wheel drive. For group b racing most everyone wanted an all wheel drive.
The Ford RS200 had a turbocharged 1.8 liter inline 4. This inline four was pushing around 250 horse power. The Ford RS200 was a mid engine which was really useful because it helped distribute the weight. The Ford RS200 was all wheel drive.
The Peugeot 205 T16 had a turbocharged 1.8 liter. There were only 200 produced that were road legal. It was all wheel drive and had 200 horse power.
