LIFE Magazine, Look-In, Teen Beat... The many magazines that became popular amongst teens and adults during the
'80s. Along with the other various types of entertainment, magazines were another form of media the community
was able to enjoy. From their controversies to their successes, magazine publishers and their magazines were
decade-changing.
media boom! Popularity with magazines spiked in the 1980s as content became less restricted due to deregulation; therefore, newspapers declined
in sales throughout the 1980s and subsequent decade. Through visually appealing
pages, people were able to look over fashion trends, get insight on their favourite
celebrities, and personal stories, especially through teen-targeted magazines like
Teen Beat and Look-In. Adding on, magazines, such as LIFE, were able to
capture serious stories/worldwide issues and provide helpful information
regarding the situation. These can include recent disasters, illegal drug abuse,
cancer, and more. If it weren't for deregulation, magazines, channels, and TV
shows wouldn't be able to detail, or let alone cover, earnest topics.
A British magazine that is geared towards children/young teenagers, as it collected interviews and picture strip stories; but, it was popular amongst all ages nonetheless.
An American magazine that covered more "darker" topics compared to others. It's most popular for discussing social and world issues, and providing photographs of these world-changing events.
An American magazine with a teenage targeted audience as it showcased more teen idols than adults. These magazines went over fashion, makeup, teen celebrities' lives, and gossip.

Magazines were generally cheap. In 1981 magazines only cost 15 cents, and in 1984 they were 22 cents.
