All employees on Plan 1 of the District health insurance will receive District paid critical illness ($5,000 of coverage) and accident insurance
All employees and their dependents on Plan 2 of the District health insurance will receive District paid critical illness ($5,000 of coverage per enrolled individual) and accident insurance
Employees who work 20 or more hours per week can purchase voluntary critical illness ($5,000 or $15,000 of coverage) and accident insurance

Someone covered by accident insurance who experiences an accident can off set out-of-pocket medical costs through payments received by the insurance company (VOYA). The benefit payments don’t go out to pay for medical bills or treatments you may need. Instead they come in, directly to you, to be used however you’d like.
Critical Illness insurance provides a lump sum payout to individuals who are diagnosed with a covered illness or condition. The benefit payments don’t go out to pay for medical bills or treatments you may need. Instead they come in, directly to you, to be used however you’d like.
