West Bridgewater Public Schools is a member of the MA Student Data Privacy Alliance (https://sdpc.a4l.org/view_alliance.php?state=MA), a group of over 400 school districts in MA, NH and ME that utilize a shared Data Privacy Contract for online applications that require student accounts. Online tools that teachers and students are able to use under the MA Data Privacy Alliance contract are listed below.
When teachers have identified online tools for use in the classroom, our process requires an initial review by the Technology Department which includes an evaluation of their educational value, terms of use and privacy policies. If we are unable to obtain a signed Data Privacy Agreement from the Vendor, which is sometimes the case with non-profit organizations and/or those offering free tools. In these cases, we ask parents to sign a release before directing students to create accounts for classroom use.
While parents are not required to sign this release, it’s important to understand that teachers have explored alternatives and determined that the use of this application is important in their instruction of the course your child is enrolled in. Students opting out of a program may not be able to participate in all activities throughout the course. If you have any questions or concerns about an application, or wish to opt out of your child using a particular platform, please contact your child's teacher or the Technology Department so that you can make an informed decision.
