6/4/22 - Time to do some housekeeping in your Drive

As the year comes to a close, it's time to start thinking about doing some housekeeping in your Google Drive. From the vast amount of documents that you have created, shared with you and pdf files you've grabbed from web pages, your drive can get pretty overwhelming pretty quickly.

  1. Create some folders. Have files that you may not need next year, but don't want to get rid of? Create a school year folder (21-22 Documents). Drag everything you created this past year into that folder.

  2. Add some color. Did you know that you can change the color of your folder. To do this, simply right-click over the folder and select "Change Color." This will help give you a visual cue for folders in your drive

  3. Shared Documents. If someone shared a useful or important document with you that you wish to keep, make a copy of it. If that person removes the file, or if that person leaves, that file will go away.

  4. Get rid of the clutter. Have a bunch of "Untitled Document" files or files that are no longer relevant and don't need? Drag them to the trash! If you change your mind, you have 30 days to bring a file back into your drive.

  5. Make them a star. Have some documents that you find you needed to access all year long? Add a start to it so it can be easily accessed from the sidebar.
