A delayed school opening means that the doors will open to the students at 9:50, with Homeroom beginning at 10:00 a.m.. Students report to homeroom for attendance and then will move to period four at 10:23.
An early dismissal results in school dismissing at 12:40PM. Parents should have instructions for their children on the procedures they wish followed in the event of an emergency early dismissal. It is also advisable for parents to have a backup plan that includes neighbors or relatives who will assume responsibility for their children.
It is imperative that the office have complete and accurate contact information. It is equally important that changes in contact information are shared immediately with the main office.
Homeroom begins promptly at 8:00 each morning. Homeroom teachers expect students to be in their rooms, and prepared to start the day and engaged in academics by the time the bell sounds to start homeroom at 8:00.
Students will be marked on time and present only if they are in their homerooms by 8:00 AM. It is important to note that arrival traffic begins to increase closer to 7:50 AM and students will be marked late for the school day if they are not seated in their homerooms by 8:00 AM on regularly scheduled days and 10:00 AM on delayed opening schedules. The first few minutes of class are sometimes the most important minutes of class. Walking in late can disrupt the flow of class. In addition, the child arriving late could have missed some important information. Locker visits are not permitted reasons for arriving at homeroom locations after the bell.
Late students will be sent to the main office to be marked “Tardy” and receive a late pass. Excessive lates (after 2nd late each marking period) result in accumulating a demerit point for each day tardy.
Morning announcements being shortly after, usually around 8:02 and period 1 begins at 8:04
