The start of a new school year is just around the corner, and I hope each of you are enjoying the summer so far. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, it is my pleasure to welcome both our returning families and those who are joining the Alfred C. MacKinnon Middle School community for the first time.
A new school year represents a fresh beginning filled with opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, and create lasting memories. At MacKinnon Middle School, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student is challenged to reach their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working throughout the summer to prepare meaningful learning experiences that will inspire curiosity, encourage creativity, and promote academic excellence. We are excited to welcome our students back and look forward to partnering with families to make this a successful and rewarding school year.
As we begin this journey together, I encourage every student to challenge yourself each day. Set high expectations, work hard, and always strive for your personal best. Success is not measured solely by grades but by the effort you put forth, the perseverance you demonstrate when faced with challenges, and your willingness to continue learning and growing. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, ask questions, and embrace new opportunities. Growth happens when we challenge ourselves.
While academic achievement is a priority, our mission extends far beyond the classroom. We believe that character matters just as much as achievement. Every day, each student has the opportunity to make a positive impact by treating others with kindness, showing respect, demonstrating responsibility, and contributing to a welcoming and supportive school community. The relationships we build and the way we treat one another help define who we are as a school.
At MacKinnon Middle School, we take great pride in building a strong sense of community, both within our school walls and throughout the Borough of Wharton. I encourage each student to be a positive representative of our school by displaying integrity, compassion, dedication, and respect wherever you go. Whether you are in the classroom, participating in athletics or extracurricular activities, volunteering in the community, or simply interacting with others, remember that your actions reflect not only on yourself but also on your family, your school, and our community. Look for opportunities to help others, include those around you, celebrate one another's successes, and lead by example. Small acts of kindness often leave the greatest impact.
This year, we will continue to provide a rigorous, student-centered academic program designed to challenge students while providing the support necessary for success. We remain committed to fostering critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Equally important is our continued focus on students' social and emotional well-being through programs and experiences that promote resilience, empathy, responsibility, and respectful communication.
Learning extends beyond the classroom, and we encourage every student to become involved in the many clubs, activities, performing arts, service opportunities, and athletic programs that MacKinnon has to offer. These experiences help students discover new interests, develop leadership skills, build confidence, and create lasting friendships.
Our success depends upon the strong partnership between school and home. We value open communication and encourage families to remain actively engaged throughout the school year through our communication platforms, parent-teacher conferences, school events, and ongoing collaboration with our faculty and staff. Together, we can provide every student with the support and encouragement needed to thrive.
As we look ahead to the first day of school, I invite our entire school community to embrace the opportunities that await us. Let us work together to create a school culture where every student feels welcomed, valued, challenged, and inspired to succeed.
I am truly honored to serve as your principal and look forward to celebrating the many accomplishments we will achieve together throughout the coming year. I have every confidence that, through hard work, determination, kindness, and mutual respect, the 2026–2027 school year will be one of tremendous growth, achievement, and unforgettable experiences.
