Spring is finally here! Now that it has officially arrived, we are excited to start planning for our outdoor garden!
For this project, students used provided materials to plan out a small garden. The younger students planned individually using egg cartons and the older groups planned in a small group using a seed starting tray.
First, students used the seed packets provided to determine what they were going to plant. Students then needed to fill out their garden plan sheet deomonstrating where the plants would be planted in the their egg carton or tray. We collected used egg cartons from families and bought the seed starter trays at Menards.
Next, students made their labels to match the seeds they plannd to plant. To make the label they used wooden spoons and drew their picture with a sharpie. The teachers then used a sealant spray to help protect the label. The spoons were ordered from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Wooden-Serving-Utensils-Puppets/dp/B0154KU618/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=wooden+kitchen+spoons&qid=1560872180&s=gateway&sr=8-1
Last, students filled the trays/egg cartons with dirt, collected the seeds they would need, and planted them in the compartments matching their plan.
