Core 40 Diploma

The Core 40 Diploma is considered a regular Indiana high school diploma. This diploma meets the minimum requirements for a high school student in order to attend a 4-year college. Keep in mind, some higher-level colleges will require more years of math and foreign language; please reference the Academic Honors Diploma.

Core 40 Diploma requires:

42 credits

-4 years of English (8 credits: English 9, 10, 11, 12)

-3 years of Math (6 credits: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II)

*At least 6 Math credits must be completed during 9-12th grade. A math or a Quantitative Reasoning class must be completed each year of high school.

-3 years of Science (6 credits: Biology, either Integrated Chem/Phys OR Chemistry, and 1 other Science class)

-3 years of Social Studies (6 credits: World History, US History, Government & Econ)

-2 credits of PE (PE-I & PE-II)

-1 credit of Prep for College

-1 credit of Health

-1 credit of Digital Applications

-5 directed elective credits (Foreign Language, Fine Arts, or Career/Technical)

-6 elective credits
