Student Directory Information

Each year the Superintendent shall provide public notice to students and their parents of intent to make available, upon request, certain information known as “directory information”. The Board designates as student “directory information”; a student’s name; address; telephone number; date and place of birth; major field of study; participation in official-recognized activities and sports; height and weight, if a member of an athletic team; dates of attendance; date of graduation; awards received; honor rolls; or scholarships. Directory information shall not be provided to any organization for profit-making purposes. Parents and eligible students may refuse to allow the Board to disclose any or all of such “directory information” upon written notification to the Board within thirty (30) days after receipt of the Superintendent’s annual public notice.

Please consider this article as “public notice” to students and parents regarding student directory information. As the underlined statement above outlines, parents who choose not to have the district disclose directory information must submit written notification stating such to: Mr. Troy Armstrong, Superintendent, Wauseon Exempted Village Schools, 930 E. Oak Street , Wauseon, OH 43567

In addition, the No Child Left Behind legislation requires that we as a school district provide Armed Forces Recruiters with demographic information on Wauseon High school students, namely their names, addresses and telephone listings. However, should parents choose to not have this information released, they may provide that request in writing to Mr. Keith Leatherman, Wauseon High School Principal. Below is the actual language as it appears in law that requires us to release information as well as the provision that allows parents to request the information not be released. Please contact Wauseon High School should you have any questions.
