The chart below identifies general minimum post-secondary education requirements that may be necessary for college admission. The counseling department can help you identify what additional courses might be helpful if you know what career area you wish to pursue and/or which technical college or university you hope to attend. Students are encouraged to carefully plan their high school program in order to meet their goals.

** Please go on-line and check the college catalog to ensure you are meeting the specific requirements of the institution and/or program of choice.
Students preparing for a 4-year college must acquire a minimum of seventeen (17) credits from the academic areas. (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Global Language and/or Fine Arts, or that as defined by the specific institution.)
In addition to the required courses listed above, students will need to take an admissions exam and meet class rank requirements. NTC requires the ACT and other 4-year colleges and universities will accept the ACT or SAT. School extracurricular involvement, community service and rigor of high school courses are some of the other factors considered by colleges as they review applications for admission. Please note that some colleges have more stringent requirements. Wausau West provides these as general guidelines only. It is strongly recommended that students check with their college of choice as to the specific requirements.
** Students planning to participate in Division I or Division II athletics in college must visit the NCAA Eligibility Center website for updated eligibility requirements.
