EARLY COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM (ECCP)
Effective for the 2018-2019 school year the Early College Credit Program (ECCP) replaced the Youth Options program as it exists in current law. The ECCP statute allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take one or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit. Under the ECCP, the cost of courses is shared among the institution of higher education, the school district (or private school), the state, and in some cases, the student's family. Neither the institute of higher education or the school board may charge a student any additional costs or fees, except that a school board may limit the amount it will pay to no more than 18 post-secondary semester credits per student.
START COLLEGE NOW (SCN)
Start College Now (SCN) will allow high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Statute 38.12(14) lays out all the aspects of the program.
Applications for enrollment in the Early College Credit Program for summer and/or fall, or Start College Now for the fall semester must be made by March 1. Applications for enrollment in the Early College Credit Program for the spring semester must be made by October 1. Please visit the Counseling website for the appropriate application and eligibility information, and see your counselor for more information or clarification. Students must be in strong academic standing, and on track with West’s graduation requirements. Both programs have strict deadlines and eligibility requirements. Not all students will qualify.
