EARLY COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM (ECCP)
The ECCP statute allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take one or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit during their freshman through senior years.
Students looking to take courses in the summer or fall semesters must turn in the application by March 1. Students looking to take courses in the spring semester must turn in the application by October 1.
Under this section, “institution of higher education” means an institution within the University of Wisconsin System.
Under the ECCP, the cost of courses is shared among the institution of higher education (IHE), the school district (or private school), the state, and in some cases, the pupil’s family. Neither the IHE or the school board may charge a pupil any additional costs or fees to a pupil, except that a school board may limit the amount it will pay to no more than 18 postsecondary semester credits per pupil.
START COLLEGE NOW (SCN)
“Start College Now” will allow high school junior and senior students the opportunity to take college courses at Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Statute 38.12 (14) lays out all the aspects of the program.
Students looking to take courses in the fall semester must turn in the application by March 1. For spring semester courses the application due date is October 1.
Please note SCN does NOT cover the summer semester.
Applications for enrollment in the Early College Credit Program for summer and/or fall, or Start College Now for the fall semester must be made by March 1. Applications for enrollment in the Early College Credit Program for the spring semester or Start College Now for the spring semester must be made by October 1. Please visit the Counseling website for the appropriate application and eligibility information, and see your counselor for more information or clarification. Students must be in strong academic standing, and on track with West’s graduation requirements. Both programs have strict deadlines and eligibility requirements. Not all students will qualify.
