SYLLABUS
Ask any of my last students what motto I would repeat to them and I hope they shout this back!
FINISHED! NOT PERFECT!
READY OR NOT... your artistic journey has begun!
My name is Mr. Patton! Feel free to click around to read more ABOUT ME, view our class slideshow and preview other classes I teach. I am hoping to really develop a fun and comfortable environment for you to grow in over this term. I know I'm biased but I think I have the funnest classes in the building!
Here are my expectations... I'll keep it simple. Show up, try your best, have fun, don't give up and TURN IN YOUR WORK. If you can do that... this class will be the easy A that everyone assumes art class should be. If you can't... I'll be blunt and honest from the beginning... you're going to struggle. Don't let that be your story. You definitely have what it takes!
Let me know if you have any specific questions I can help answer!
See you soon!
Mr. Patton
CLASSES I TEACH
To the left is my introduction slideshow with links to all of my other class slideshows as well. If you are ever absent you should be able to find a good summary within each slideshow but understand that you will miss valuable demonstrations and work time that are hard to make up.
HOW DO I GRADE ART?
PRODUCTIVITY : Did you focus and finish?
COLLABORATION : Did you work with others?
LEARNING : Did you challenge yourself to grow?
RESPECT : Did you show kindness to others and yourself?
You will critique your project and work ethic after every project. As long as you work hard, finish your projects and turn them in, you should get an easy A.
I stick to deadlines pretty firmly in my class so be prepared. My main reason is because it's important for me to see your work in order to give effective and timely feedback to assist in helping make you better... faster! We only have 8-9 weeks in a term and if you begin to slip and dig yourself into a hole... it can be incredibly difficult to get yourself out. I will be there each step of the way regardless!
😳 75% If You Miss Due Date
🤢 50% If 1 Week Past Due Date
🤮 0% If 2 Weeks Past Due Date
Do not doubt yourself! Do not compare yourself! We are each on our own little adventure. Do the work. Have fun with it. Turn it in. That is it. All I care about is that from day one to the final day when you walk out my door... you grow. Not only in art skills but life.
DO NOT GIVE UP! KEEP CLIMBING!
