ABOUT ME

My name is William Patton. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska but grew up in Aurora, Colorado and now having lived more than half my life here in Iowa, I would consider myself a native instead of captive of Iowa!

I am married to my beautiful and loving wife Ariel (pronounced with Sebastian’s accent from Little Mermaid).  She gave us the gift of our wild little Elijah John and our adorable daughter Elliana Jean!

With the very little spare time I still have in my life I enjoy exploring the outdoors, taking photos, playing board games and video games, disc golf and hanging out with friends and family. If I can do all of those in one day… I am in heaven.

My family recently started Kids Read + Draw, a YouTube channel geared towards teaching kids how to love reading + drawing.

If you've got younger siblings or family members that would benefit from this free + fun family friendly content... share it with them! If you would love to see a different side of Mr. Patton at home with his kiddos and want to revisit some nostalgic childhood books and characters... don't feel too old... you can still have fun and follow along too! Go Subscribe 👍

Before pursuing this new teaching path in becoming a Waukee Warrior, I worked as a graphic designer and photographer for 5 years designing logos and menus for restaurants for Martin Bros.  I also currently own Patton Design & Photo where I capture photos of Weddings, Seniors, Family, Babies & Fine Art.

After a lot of personal reflection about my passions, skills and interests, I decided to refocus my training and obtain a teaching license.  I believe having taken this unique path in becoming an art teacher it will allow me to bring real world relevancy of the art world into my classroom.

This is a drawing I did in a single day last year! It's a work in progress that still needs to be finalized. I chose to draw this alongside students that were trying to come up with imagery that personally means something to them.

The hand in the top is meant to represent my hand attempting to lead our pack here at Northwest. The wolf snout in the bottom left is actually my favorite intentional choice. It is supposed to serve as a reminder that each student is given a chance to step up as a leader. That more visible "alpha" wolf is always standing as an example to someone... the wolf snout that follows.

Who is watching you? Who is following your lead? Be intentional and be careful with every step moving forward because whether you realize it or not... others are watching your lead. Be a light to those around you and guide them toward a good path. Do not lead them astray. The awareness of this responsibility will also inevitably help guide your own life into a better path.

IF YOU MADE IT THIS FAR... NOW YOU KNOW I'M A REAL HUMAN
NOT JUST YOUR TEACHER 👍 THANKS FOR CARING!
