HELLO
My name is Ms. Griffin! This is my ninth year teaching at Watertown Middle School. I grew up a few towns over in Needham, Massachusetts. I graduated from Needham High School and continued my academic career at Loyola College (University now) in Baltimore, Maryland.
It was there that I found my love for crab and the concept of why people do what they do! I graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Gender Studies. I had no idea what I wanted to do with that, but I soon found myself with a lot of bills and ventured into a middle school in Newton to apply for a substitute position. I realized how much I loved being in the classroom helping all of the students. I also realized how much I would have appreciated the help while I was going through school. I’ve been teaching Special Education ever since!
(If you ever asked me if I thought I would become a teacher when I was your age I would have said, 100% no way! You never know where life will lead you!)
In my spare time, I enjoy reading (although I strongly disliked reading in middle school), cooking, golfing, watching good shows or movies, going to the beach, and sitting by a cozy fire! I split my summertime between the North Shore (Gloucester) and Cape Cod. I have been going to the Cape since I was born and have worked at the same restaurant for 24 years!
I have the privilege of working with students from all three grades and throughout many clusters. So you will probably see me around! 8th grade is such an amazing year and the beginning of your transition to High School. Time flies so enjoy the days ahead and do not wish them to move faster!
Looking forward to working together this wonderful year!
