Need help navigating the FAFSA application process?
A college education is a worthwhile investment in the future. Unfortunately, it can also be a costly one. In today’s world, financial aid is often necessary to pay for post-secondary education, but the process can be confusing and overwhelming.
To help you understand the financial aid process and assist with the new FAFSA application this year, we will be hosting an FSA ID creation night in addition to the FSA ID Registration Days on October 10th and November 7th during the school day.
In order to start your FAFSA application, you will need to have your FSA ID verified. We expect this will take multiple days due to limitations in the Department of Education and IRS systems, so it is extremely important you create your FSA ID well before the FAFSA application opens in late December! We strongly recommend students create an FSA ID if they are thinking about attending college, even if they aren't 100% sure yet to avoid missing deadlines!
What do I need to bring?
All you need to create an FSA ID is your Social Security number, email address, and phone number!
Please note: A Social Security number, email address, and phone number can only be associated with one FSA ID. If you share an email with someone else, then only one person will be able to use that email to create an FSA ID. Students should not use their Waterloo Schools email address for their FSA ID.
