Note Taking on Class Books
You will be using these different methods throughout the year.
Remember to:
-Write the book section including page numbers & Date
-Write notes on the whole section
Recommendations:
-Have your notes relate to your Lit Circle or Socratic Seminar requirements. You should be using those notes to help you with these assignments!
Types of notes:
1. Sticky notes – use 3-5 sticky notes to write things you notice about the text as you read.
2. Cornell Notes. See the Cornell note document and information below for the correct set-up for this
3. Mind Map/Visual – Create a Web that uses bubbles to organize your notes. You can add pictures to help you.
4. T-chart or divided page – similar to Cornell notes without the summary at the bottom.
5. Outline – use an outline format to organize your ideas. This starts with big ideas and then adds details in subsections. See below:
