ROAR = Responsible, Only Kind, Always Safe, Respectful
Dear Families,
As we move into November, I’m reminded of how much we have to be thankful for in our school community. Each day, I see students showing kindness, curiosity, and determination. I see families and staff working together to make our school a place where everyone feels valued and supported. This month, we’ll be focusing on gratitude and giving back, both in and out of the classroom. I encourage you to take a moment as a family to talk about the things you’re thankful for and the ways small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Thank you for your continued partnership and for sharing your amazing children with us each day.
Warmly,
Jenna Louderback, principal

The hallways and classrooms at Lititz El are buzzing with energy and excitement for the upcoming holiday season. There’s so much to look forward to this time of year! That being said, please be mindful of sending your child to school with sick symptoms. We are seeing an increase in illnesses at this time. Germs spread very quickly within the school, so below are guidelines to help you determine whether or not it is appropriate for your student(s) to come to school. Keep in mind, children who don’t feel well are not able to learn or retain what is being taught. Their bodies will heal quicker if they are able to rest, hydrate, and limit the risk of re-infection.
Fever:
If oral temperature is at or above 100 degrees, the student must remain home and be fever free for 24-hours without fever reducing medicine, and show improvement in symptoms, before returning to school.
Vomiting/Diarrhea:
Stay home and return only when symptom-free for 24 hours.
Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye):
When a student has a pink eye, especially in the white area of the eye, they will need to be evaluated by a healthcare provider. If the healthcare provider determines that no antibiotic drop is needed, they may return to school. If an antibiotic drop is required, they may return to school as instructed by the healthcare provider, typically 12-24 hours after drops have been initiated. Pink eye is highly contagious.
Colds:
Elementary children with thick or constant nasal drainage and/or frequent coughing should stay home. Despite our best efforts, very few school age children can effectively blow their noses, cover their mouths, and remember to wash their hands afterwards. These illnesses spread very quickly to other children.
Thank you for your help to keep Lititz El a healthy and happy place for our students!

In previous years, health standards were taught by other staff members. Starting this school year, our PE teachers will serve as Health and PE teachers and will take on the responsibility of teaching the health standards.
November Newsletter Input
This month in music we are diving deeper into the idea of pitch, note letter names and solfege syllables (do, re, mi, etc.). We will be exploring how to use our bodies and other manipulatives to show high/low sounds and where to find high and low sounds on our Orff instruments. K-2 will be learning the basics of music notation while 3-6 will be working on identifying, reading and writing music notes on the staff. Orff auditions for 5th and 6th grade will be held this month, look for paperwork coming home mid-month.
In Art we are beginning paint projects. Each grade level is working on specific stadandard related to painting. We can't wait to see the finished projects!
