ROAR = Responsible, Only Kind, Always Safe, Respectful
Dear Families,
May has arrived at Lititz El, bringing with it blooming flowers and a palpable sense of excitement as we enter the final stretch of the school year. It is a joy to witness how much our students have grown—both academically and socially—since those first days back in September. While the warmer weather makes the playground extra tempting, we are staying focused on finishing our learning goals and celebrating our collective hard work. Between upcoming field trips and spring concerts, our final weeks are packed with opportunities to make lasting memories together. Thank you for your incredible support as we work together to end this year on a high note!
Warmly,
Jenna Louderback, principal

A few seasonal reminders:
Please give over-the-counter non-drowsy antihistamines such as Claritin or Zyrtec prior to sending your child to school. Additionally, Flonase is very useful for preventative maintenance. Students with seasonal allergies really struggle to concentrate and learn throughout the day when they have itchy eyes, severe congestion, sneezing, coughing, and post-nasal drainage.
After your child has been outside playing, scan for deer ticks in their skin and hair. Purchase a tick key on Amazon. This little tool makes removing ticks easier.
It’s that time of year when students start presenting with poison ivy. You may not realize that one common source of poison ivy spread is the family dog. They run around in the grass, roll in just about anything, and poison ivy oils stick to their fur. If you pet them, or they rub against your legs, chances are it won’t be long until you find yourself scratching! To prevent this, bathe your pet more often in the spring and summer, especially if you take them hiking, or you suspect they are running around in areas where poison ivy flourishes.
Please remember to submit signed dental forms for Kindergarten and 3rd graders, as well as signed physical exam forms for Kindergarten and 6th graders by the end of the school year! Please have 6th grade immunizations updated prior to the first day of 7th grade. These include Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap), as well as Meningococcal vaccines.
If your child has medication in the health room, please remember to set up a time with Mrs. Sell to pick up the medication on June 4th or 5th. If the medication is not a controlled substance, such as an inhaler or an Epi-pen, Mrs. Sell will send this home in your child’s backpack.
In music class this month we are all about movement. Students will be dancing, singing and playing various instruments but we will focus primarily on how we can use our bodies to represent the sounds we hear. Students will participate in folk dances from all different time periods, and many different cultures. We will also do lummi stick activities, parachute games, scarf dances and use all of these activities as an opportunity to explore and express dynamics and form in music.
We are working on many different pieces and focusing on multimedia art. Thank you for supporting the District Wide Art Show!
