Walkers and Bike Riders will use the front door to enter school. At dismissal these students will be released from the back door by our preschool smaller playground.
Students may ride a non-motorized bike or walk to school only under the guidance and direction of the parents. We want students to enjoy living in close proximity of the school, but also to be safe. Therefore, this is a family decision.
Motorized vehicles may not be driven on school property by a student. This includes scooters, mopeds, golf carts, etc.
If the parents wish for their child to be released at dismissal as a walker/bike rider they should complete a form that will be provided by the school. This form may be found on our website. It is also linked HERE.
Signing the permission form states that the parent understands that the school will not be able to supervise students, once released to leave.
This permission form will remain on file and followed until the parent gives further written directions.
Students will not be released if a form has not been made available.
Students’ friends will not be allowed to be dismissed as a walker/bike rider to visit a friend’s home unless that student’s parents also provides the same written form for their child.
Bikes should be parked in the bike rack appropriately, not left on the ground next to the bike rack.
We reserve the walker/bike rider option for students that are truly walking or riding bikes from school.
We want to be good a neighbor; please do not park on a street near school and pick up your student at the Walker Door entrance. These streets are already congested with those that are appropriately following dismissal procedures and we want to ensure the residential neighbors of JRES do not have their driveways blocked.
Please do not park behind the library/patio and pick up your student from the Walker Door. This area is reserved for students attending the Community Education after-school program. To ensure the safety of these students, we need to limit automobile traffic during dismissal.
