JRES is a welcoming school that works hard daily to create an atmosphere where students want to come to school to learn and families like to come to school to volunteer.
Children love to have their families join them for lunch and it is a great way to see how your child’s day is going. We require all family members to stay in the dining room or remain within the area between the office and the dining room during the lunch visit. (Lunch guests may not visit the classrooms.)
We require visitor tags and signing in at the office. This includes visiting during the lunch hours. All visitors to the building will be screened using the Raptor Visitor Management System. This is for the safety of all of our children and staff so we know who is in the building at all times. We require everyone to participate with this safety feature (even once we recognize the volunteer or visitor).
We will ask to see a picture I.D. If the visitor is not on the emergency card, the student’s parent will be phoned to request permission. For safety purposes, if we are unable to reach a parent, then that visitor will NOT be allowed to stay for lunch.
On special event days we will still use the Raptor Visitor Management System. First-time guests are encouraged to pre-register in the Raptor System to reduce their wait time for parties and events.
Every instructional minute is important. Due to confidentiality, we cannot allow visitors to remain in a classroom during instruction. We strive to provide a learning environment that is free from interruptions and distractions so that an academic focus can be maintained. We also want to limit observations by visitors to respect the dignity of all students who are learning at different levels.
JRES parents should communicate this policy to all adults listed on the Emergency Card.
If it is necessary for a parent to bring an item or deliver a message during school hours, he/she should come to the office. This service can be done through the office staff to prevent classroom interruptions. Drop-in visits tend to disrupt the flow of learning.
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please schedule a conference with your child’s teacher. We will be happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you and the teacher. It is not appropriate for teachers to discuss student progress when other children are present, in the hallway, in the car rider line, or out in the community such as the grocery store.
Phone calls made to the classroom during the instructional day will be sent to the teacher's voicemail. Please leave a message and all staff members will return the phone call in a timely manner.
All guests of JRES should report to the office. Visitors will be given visitor tag to wear after signing in properly.
Thanks for helping us keep our kiddos safe and our learning time distraction free!
