All entrances will remain locked, except one front door. Visitors then will have to be buzzed in to enter the office area.
We require visitor tags and signing in at the office. This includes visiting during the lunch hours. All visitors to the building will be screened using the Raptor Visitor Management System. This is for the safety of all of our children and staff so we know who is in the building at all times. We require everyone to participate with this safety feature (even once we recognize the volunteer or visitor).
JRES parents should communicate this policy to all adults listed on the Emergency Card.
We will ask to see a picture I.D. If the visitor is not on the emergency card, the student’s parent will be phoned to request permission. For safety purposes, if we are unable to reach a parent, then that visitor will not be allowed to stay for lunch.
On special event days we will still be checking picture ID’s. First time guests will be encouraged to arrive with family members to speed up the process on these special event days.
Security cameras are in place, as well as, a trained crisis response team.
We practice safety drills regularly with all grade levels participating, throughout the school year. We are very proactive at JRES to ensure we are not only practicing, but also teaching safe practices to our students through a variety of safety drills (including fire, tornado, earthquake, building evacuation, building intruder, bus evacuation).
Students are encouraged to tell an adult when they are threatened or hear or see something that frightens them.
A full time guidance counselor teaches guidance lessons in each classroom throughout the year and meets with students individually, as needed.
We use the Second Step Social Skills Curriculum in every grade level.
We have a school discipline plan, which we implement swiftly, fairly, and consistently.
We try to maintain good communication with parents and work together to help children make positive choices.
The most important plan for all of us to follow is open communication. Talk to your children and encourage them to talk to their teachers and the principals when they have concerns. Families are encouraged to call school personnel with questions and concerns.
Working together is the best way to keep our school safe.
The purpose of a Reunification Plan is to reunite children and their families in the event of an off site emergency situation.
This would include situations that call for students to evacuate the building and not be able to re-enter.
As with all emergencies, local media or the school’s Infinite Campus text/email messaging system will notify the public if the need to use a Reunification Plan arises.
Please do not call the school to ask questions so that our phone lines may remain open for emergency personnel.
Important Things to Remember in all Situations: remain calm, follow procedures, and be patient.
Off-site reunification will take place at an alternate location.
ALL students will be bused to one of these locations and parents will be notified via the media or Infinite Campus text/email message that the off-campus reunification plan is being used.
Persons picking up students must be on the child’s emergency card.
Have a PHOTO ID with you.
Students will be in a centralized location and monitored by school and district employees.
The location will be announced when the email or phone/text message is sent to parents.
Only persons on the emergency card will be allowed to pick up students, and EVERYONE must present a PHOTO ID.
Do not assume a staff member will be there to recognize family members.
There will be a designated checkout station.
Students must be signed out before leaving.
Students will only be released after processing through the checkout station.
