School dismissal for car riders and all buses begins at 3:30 p.m. It will take a bit longer at the beginning of the school year for us to dismiss all students, but especially for the car riders. Families’ patience is appreciated! Once we are in a routine the dismissal process should be complete by 3:45 daily.
School begins promptly at 8:30. However, we will have an early Morning Meeting at 8:20 to help ensure our regular instruction begins at 8:30. Morning Meeting is usually on Mondays and Fridays.
The building will open at 8:00 A.M. and supervision will start at this time. Do not let a child out of the car without a staff member on duty, please.
When dropping off children, please pull into the car rider loop (driveway off of Belle Haven neighborhood) and pull all the way around the sidewalk. If you are the first person in line, pull up next to where the mailbox is located.
Please remember that many cars can drop off students at the same time as long as the first car will pull all the way up next to the mailbox.
Parents should remain in the car during drop off.
Children should exit their car on the passenger side only and walk on the sidewalk, entering through the front doors.
Children should not wait for a staff member to open their door, but rather exit as soon as the parent has pulled all the way up and has come to a complete stop.
Please have your child ready to leave the car when you stop. Please be proactive and take care of locating lunch money and filling out forms prior to coming to school. If you or your student need more time, feel free to park iin the parking lot and rejoin the car rider line when you are ready.
Please do not park and walk your student into the building unless you child has special needs (cast, injury, etc). We have to stop the flow of traffic to allow people to cross. It is necessary for a few families, but unnecessarily slows the drop off line if too many people do this.
It is critical that drivers DO NOT go around a stopped car on the car rider loop as cars are unloading on the sidewalk. A child could accidentally step from a car on the wrong side at any time and we want everyone to arrive safely.
The bus loop (driveway off of Beaumont Drive) is for the buses only. Please do not enter this way or park there. The few cars you see parked on that side belong to the bus drivers.
If you arrive at school after 8:30am and there are no longer staff members outside, you must park your car and walk you child into the school building to sign in.
Please pull into the car rider loop (driveway off of Belle Haven neighborhood) and pull all the way around the sidewalk.
Cars should ONLY make right turns into the JRES driveway from Belle Haven Blvd for afternoon pickup. Please be courteous and do not block the driveways of our neighbors.
We will have a staff member who is entering student names into a document that is projected in the gym. Please be sure your VISOR CARD PROVIDED BY JRES with the students’ number is showing. If you do not have this card, you will need to park and go to the office for us to check your child’s emergency card. A car visor card will be issued and the office staff will check to make sure the person picking up the student matches a name on the emergency card.
Please follow the directions of the staff members supervising the car line outside and remember patience will be very important, especially at the beginning of the school year!
We have 12 designated, numbered spots along this sidewalk.
Children will be supervised on the sidewalk while waiting for their name and number to be called.
It is critical that drivers DO NOT go around a stopped car on the car rider loop as cars are loading on the sidewalk. Please remember safety first!
Staff members supervising students on the sidewalk will be seen frequently checking their phones. They are also monitoring the document that is being projected in the gym. This is to help make sure the students are going to the correct rockets and the car rider line moves as efficiently as possible.
Parents should remain in the car during pick up. It is also important that you not get out of your car and walk to the sidewalk. Staying in your car speeds up this line and ensures safety for all involved in the dismissal process.
Any child still waiting for a parent when the car rider line empties will be taken to the office to await pickup. Parents may come inside and get their student.
Students will wait in the gym until they see their name and coordinating Rocket Number on the screen.
Students should pay attention to the screen and report quickly to their assigned Rocket on the sidewalk. Teachers of the younger students will help ensure students see their name on the screen.
Students must go to the assigned Rocket Number. If a student goes to the wrong rocket, the line of cars will have to stop additional times and slow the process.
Students must cooperate and respect other students and adult staff members.
Any student who does not behave appropriately while waiting on their assigned Rocket will be sent to the office to wait for the parent to park and walk in to pick up the child in the office. If this becomes a repeated offense, then disciplinary action may be taken.
