Computing Day 3 (next week):
Your third computing session for this year is coming up soon. The theme for this session is 'Lego & Robotics,' which builds on what you have learned about high-level programming. A guest presenter will be leading the session, with Mr. Harland and Miss O'Brien there to support. Unlike previous sessions, the third session will not be held with your tutor group. It's important for you to remember which group you have been assigned to. Due to strict maximum group sizes it will not be possible to change groupings due to any planned absence.
As we approach the end of the year, some of you will have your Day 3 before the summer break, while others will have it after we return in September. However, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in this exciting day. Below are the Year 7 sessions scheduled before the summer break. Please check if you are in Group 7 or 8 for your session next week. All other students will have their session during the first term after the summer break. We will update you on the exact date in September.
All sessions are in the Old Sports Hall, please report to the rear of the Old Sports Hall- behind the green gym, to access this entrance, go down the pathway towards the 3G and line up just in front of the containers at the beginning of period 1 or 4.

Great character at the dinner table:
A reminder to please ensure you take your rubbish at lunch and place it in the bins/containers for plates etc. There have been several tables who continue to display poor character in the way they leave their table. If you are sat at a table and someone leaves their rubbish, show great character and ask them to take their rubbish with them! Let's have respect for our environment and respect for the wonderful staff of Parkes who often have to clean up your plates/rubbish.
Thank you.

Computer Science Deep Learning~Day 1:
At Warden Park we deliver the subject of computer science in a different way. Rather than timetabled lessons once per fortnight, we have split up what used to be aspects of IT- digital learning and computer science, into two separate parts. Some of your digital learning has happened in learning about life, eg your digital safety lessons, whilst other aspects of digital learning are taking place all of the time in your other lessons. The computer science aspect is delivered though special focused computer science deep learning days.
These days have been organised by our specialist computer science team. The first day is coming up! The Year 7 day will be next Monday 6th February, and will run for two periods. Classes will either have periods 1 & 2 or 4&5. We will publish the room you will need to go to next Monday. You will have two further full days throughout the year, which will be whole day learning projects. The first session will:
Introduce key computation thinking skills: algorithms, pattern recognition, abstraction and decomposition
Create and compare algorithmic solutions to everyday problems; which is better? Why?
Using computational thinking to solve problems: Programming (App based)
The staff are looking forward to these days and we hope you are now too!

Conduct at break at lunch:
Several students have been caught recently squirting their drinks at each other during lunchtime. This is not an acceptable way to behave, and any students doing this will be logged, and risk being banned from using the canteen for a period of time.
Students are also reminded about conduct in the queue, as the queue moves, rather than stepping past/or into a gap in front of someone, wait for them to move forward. Students found "moving into the gaps" rather than waiting for those in front to move forward will be treated as if they have pushed in. Respect those around you and and display better character by politely asking those in front to move forward.
Thank you!
