This resource was inspired by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz's Big6™ model for Information Literacy. In 2016 it was adjusted to closer fit the Australia and New Zealand Information Literacy Standards (ANZIL).

It was originally created for the University of Waikato Faculty of Education online paper TEPS121: Introduction to Information and Communication Technology. The original website was designed and created by Theresa Ball (Library), with assistance from Kerry Earl (Faculty of Education) and the late e-learning pioneer Nola Campbell.

It has been updated in subsequent years by University of Waikato Library and Faculty of Education staff: Anne Ferrier-Watson (Library), Charles Willison (Library), David Foreman (Library), Dianne Forbes (Faculty of Education), and Theresa Rielly (Library).

The latest update in January 2019 was by Theresa Rielly (Library).

Thanks to Student Learning for the use of the Reading Log, and other materials.
