Suggestions for creating your own Videos to share content with learners.

Screencastify

You can easily make videos using the Screencastify extention. You can record yourself, your desktop or both. Videos save to your Drive then they can be shared from there or uploaded to Youtube.

Loom

Use these sites to create self-paced, interactive video lessons. Add questions, prompts etc to your own videos or existing videos (eg Youtube, Ted Talks, Khan Academy or Vimeo (Vimeo works best with Playposit).

The free options are Edpuzzle Basic - allows 20 videos) and Playposit Basic .

Green screening

Green-screening means making a video, taking out the studio background (normally staged in front of green, of course, but sometimes blue) and putting a different background into the video so that it seems like you are on location. It is easy to do on iMovie ($14.99) on an ipad now if you have a newer ipad. Otherwise you can use iMovie (free on modern Macs )or more expensive software like Camtasia ($434) . Book Creator

You can record video directly in Book Creator or you can upload and embed existing videos. Very easy to use. Videos will be part of a book which can be published to the we. You can easily add supporting material to the book including questions, prompts, links, audio, sketches and images.

WeVideo

WeVideo is a web based application which is an online video editor which means you can use it with Chromebooks as well. It is a paid application, $US 4.99 per month for 30 mins of video p.m. or $US7.99 pm for unlimited minutes for a single user or $US299 per year for a single class/group of up to 30 users. It allows you to import video footage and edit it as well as record. You can browse, preview, and filter footage, apply basic editing techniques, keep different audio and video tracks, add text and transitions, add music and special effects, preview and save your video. Class version includes Green screen tools and a media library.
