Mainly for text, Google docs are private by default and can be shared easily with up to 50 people able to use and edit one google doc at any one time. Useful hints and protocols for using google docs include; having assigned spaces on a table to work in, not editing others work without permission, look at version history under the file menu to restore preferred versions, using comments for suggested changes, use add-ons for added functionality, for allowing no changes, just ensure that the docs are view only. If you want everyone to be able to make a copy, you can change the end of the URL to "copy" instead of "edit" which forces everyone to have their own individual copy. Google docs support is here. Add some text to this google doc to help others.
