Recommendations:
Students should have passed the majority of assessments in Year 10 (preferably at Merit or Excellence level) and be confidently working at Level 5 of the New Zealand curriculum.
Course Content:
The course consists of a wide range of mathematical content, including Number, Algebra, Measurement, Trigonometry, Geometry and Statistics. This course is designed to develop a broad range of mathematical and statistical skills in preparation for either Level 2 Mathematics with Calculus or Mathematics with Statistics.
Methods of Assessment:
The NCEA Level 1 Mathematics and Statistics course consists of four Achievement Standards. Two of these Achievement Standards will be internally assessed, and two of them will be externally assessed. Each Achievement Standard is worth 5 credits, and there is a maximum of 20 credits in total for this course.

Students must have their own scientific calculator (approximately $30).
