Course Overview: This engaging and comprehensive course covers the fundamental areas of History, Geography, Economics, and Civics. Students will explore these subjects through a variety of lenses, including significant elements of the Aotearoa New Zealand histories curriculum, which provides a unique insight into our nation's rich and diverse past.
Our curriculum is designed to make learning both informative and exciting. Students will delve into current events, examining issues that affect us locally, nationally, and globally. This approach helps them understand the world around them and their place in it.
We emphasise a diverse range of learning activities to cater to different learning styles. Students will participate in formal writing exercises, collaborative group work, and creative project-making. The course integrates both digital and physical aspects, ensuring that students develop essential skills for the modern world. Course Overview: This comprehensive course offers an in-depth exploration of History, Geography, and Economics, with a strong emphasis on Global Geography and advanced History research skills. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a sound foundation for NCEA Level 1.
In Global Geography, students will be introduced to Digital Geographic Information Systems (GIS), an essential tool for modern geographers. This technology helps students analyse spatial data, understand complex geographic patterns, and develop critical thinking skills. Our geography lessons go beyond traditional maps and atlases, offering students hands-on experience with digital mapping and spatial analysis.
In History, we focus on developing robust research skills. Students will learn how to source, evaluate, and interpret historical evidence, preparing them for more advanced studies. These skills are crucial for NCEA Level 1 and beyond, helping students become effective researchers and critical thinkers.
